The Pottery Wheel Taster workshop is a one session introduction to the process of throwing on the potter’s wheel. The 2.5 hour workshop begins with a demonstration of the complete throwing process, followed by a couple hours of hands-on practice under the guidance of an experienced instructor. At the end of the workshop, participants will be invited to choose two pieces to keep. Your creations will be left at the studio to be fired and glazed in a solid color of your choice. Kiln fired pottery will be available for collection approx. two to four weeks later.

Explore the fundamentals of throwing on the potter’s wheel, from preparing the clay to glazing your pieces. The workshop runs once a week over 4 consecutive weeks. Each session lasts 3 hours, for a total of 12 hours. There is no set limit to how many pieces you can create during the course.
WEEKS 1 & 2
Introduction to materials and techniques—learn how to prepare clay and throw bowls and cylinders under the guidance of an instructor.
WEEK 3
Refine the pieces made in the previous sessions—practice trimming and explore basic alteration techniques.
WEEK 4
Decorate your work—learn about glazes and experiment with different applications before final firing. Finished pieces will be ready for collection 2–3 weeks later.

“Pottery Wheel Intermediary” is a follow-up to the “Pottery Wheel for Beginners” course (or equivalent experience). Its extended format allows you to strengthen your existing skills while exploring new techniques. By the end of the course, you will be able to throw the full range of forms needed to create a complete tableware set.
The course runs once a week over 6 consecutive weeks. Each session lasts 3 hours, for a total of 18 hours. Classes are limited to a maximum of five participants to ensure individual guidance. There is no set limit to how many pieces you can create during the course.
WEEK 1
Revisit the fundamentals and refine your technique. The session begins with a guided recap of the throwing process, including tips to improve consistency, followed by focused practice creating bowls and cups.
WEEK 2
Explore shape modifications—transform cylinders and bowls into vases, jugs, creamers, or matcha bowls.
WEEK 3
Refine your pieces from the previous weeks. Practice trimming and learn how to make handles and other attachments through guided demonstrations.
WEEK 4
Learn to throw plates and shallow bowls. This session focuses on wider forms to help complete your tableware set.
WEEK 5
Trim pieces from week four and learn best practices for finishing wide and flat shapes. Your work will be bisque fired between weeks 5 and 6.
WEEK 6
Decorate your pieces—learn about glazes and experiment with applications suited to different forms.
