Pottery Wheel Intermediary | 18 hours - 6 weeks

€375.00

“Pottery Wheel Intermediary” is a follow-up to the “Pottery Wheel for Beginners” course (or equivalent experience). Its extended format allows you to strengthen your existing skills while exploring new techniques. By the end of the course, you will be able to throw the full range of forms needed to create a complete tableware set.

The course runs once a week over 6 consecutive weeks. Each session lasts 3 hours, for a total of 18 hours. Classes are limited to a maximum of five participants to ensure individual guidance. There is no set limit to how many pieces you can create during the course.

WEEK 1
Revisit the fundamentals and refine your technique. The session begins with a guided recap of the throwing process, including tips to improve consistency, followed by focused practice creating bowls and cups.

WEEK 2
Explore shape modifications—transform cylinders and bowls into vases, jugs, creamers, or matcha bowls.

WEEK 3
Refine your pieces from the previous weeks. Practice trimming and learn how to make handles and other attachments through guided demonstrations.

WEEK 4
Learn to throw plates and shallow bowls. This session focuses on wider forms to help complete your tableware set.

WEEK 5
Trim pieces from week four and learn best practices for finishing wide and flat shapes. Your work will be bisque fired between weeks 5 and 6.

WEEK 6
Decorate your pieces—learn about glazes and experiment with applications suited to different forms.

✿ All materials and firing fees are included in the price
✿ Instruction is in English, with support in German if needed

Note: The intermediate courses are currently sold out. I’ll be taking a short break in July, but new late summer and fall dates will be announced soon. If you’d like to stay updated, feel free to sign up for the newsletter to be the first to know when new spots open up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Get in touch and I’ll do my best to answer!

  • The workshop formats are a bit longer than most, so you actually have time to get your hands dirty without feeling rushed, plus there is time build in for demos and cleanup. The groups are kept small (5–6 people), which means more personal guidance. The studio also offer a unique range of custom-made, colorful glazes you won’t find anywhere else.

  • Wear clothes and shoes suitable for messy work. Clay will wash off easily but it’s best not to take any chances. It’s also recommended to come with shorter nail if possible.

  • The studio is located at Warthestr. 68 in Neukölln — just look for the green storefront door. :)

The nearest train stations are Leinestr. (U8) and Hermannstr. (U8/S-Bahn.)

  • I run a small, one-person studio, and spots in each course are very limited to maintain an intimate setting. Because of this, the following cancellation policy applies:

    Cancellation Policy – Multi-Week Courses:

    • 30+ days before the first session: Full refund minus processing fees, or 100% studio credit valid for 12 months.

    • 14–29 days before the first session: 50% refund, or 100% studio credit valid for 12 months.

    • 13 days or less before the first session: Unfortunately, I cannot offer a refund.

    Cancellation Policy – One-Day Workshops

    • Cancellations made 14 days or more before the workshop date will receive a full refund minus payment processing fees, or alternatively a 100% studio credit valid for 12 months.

    • Cancellations made 8–13 days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund or a 100% studio credit valid for 12 months.

    • Cancellations made 7 days or fewer before the workshop date are non-refundable.

Missed sessions are generally difficult to reschedule due to the course structure. That said, I understand that life happens. If you experience serious illness, injury, or another major unforeseen event, please reach out as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to work something out when possible, though I can’t guarantee alternative arrangements or compensation.

You’re also welcome to transfer your spot to someone else if you give me prior notice.

  • Taster Sessions:

Each participant can choose two pieces to leave at the studio, where they will be glazed and fired.

    Multi-week courses:

There is no set limit to how many pieces you can create during the course.

  • Expect 2–4 weeks depending on the type of workshop you are participating in. Pottery it not a fast process! :’)
